Arms supplies to Armenia is not a right step

Azerbaijan is concerned over Russian arms supplies to Armenia, Ziyafat Asgarov, first vice-speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, told reporters on Friday.

With regard to the fact that Russia has given Armenia weapons and military equipment worth 200 million dollars, Asgarov said unfortunately, it’s not Russia’s first time supplying weapons and military equipment to Armenia.

Such a step from Russia only adds to the already-escalated tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to the vice-speaker.

“We are expecting Russia to provide unbiased information in response to the noted of Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry,” he added.

“This [arms supplies] is not a right step, and the arming of Armenia, an occupying country, only exacerbates the situation,” Asgarov stressed.
