1.5 million mines were buried in Karabakh

We estimate that approximately 1.5 million mines have been buried in our liberated territories.

Axar.az reports that this was said by Samir Poladov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Agency for Demining the Territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).

According to him, this is not accurate and final information:

"We discovered a number of improvised mines in Lachin. They were placed on the doorsteps of houses, in yards. In general, 70 per cent of mine explosions occurred far from the former contact line. So, a total of 52 incidents occurred in the former contact line, and 137 explosion incidents occurred in other areas."
