On April 13, a large-scale protest against the colonial policy of the French government was held in New Caledonia.

Axar.az reports that more than 30,000 people participated in the protest organized by the New Caledonia Local Action Coordination Center in the main square called "Peace" of the capital Noumea.

According to the program of the action, traditional rituals were performed, and political leaders of independence supporters and representatives of the center made speeches. Later, the procession started from "Sülh" square.

"Iron Fist" by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev was chosen as the main logo of the poster of the protest action. In addition, in the protest against French colonialism, the participants raised the Azerbaijani flag in the central square.

Dominic Fauci, representative of the Center for the Coordination of Action in the Outgoing Areas, said that the situation was tense due to the passage of the project in the Senate, and called on the official Paris not to do it without consulting the local Kanak people, otherwise, the existing peace balance would be undermined.

It is interesting to note that even those who emigrated from France say that the rights of the indigenous Kanak people should be respected. For example, Claude Ayrault, who moved from France to New Caledonia in 1993, said about the steps of the Elysée Palace that the rights of the Kanak people should be respected: "We have to accept that we moved here."

In general, protests against France in New Caledonia have not stopped in recent days. On April 2, the upper house of the French parliament - the Senate - voted in favor of the draft law that the government wants to forcefully adopt to change the electoral legislation in New Caledonia. According to that project, the people whom Paris has purposely moved to New Caledonia will have the right to vote. The main objective of the French government here is to ensure that the indigenous Kanak people remain a minority in their country.

It should be noted that Paris has sent additional police forces here to maintain its colonial rule in New Caledonia.
