Asadov called on Turkish investors to cooperate

Azerbaijan has a very favorable investment environment, and Turkish companies are actively using it. We are ready to take all necessary steps to increase the volume of mutual investments.

Axar.az reports that Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said this at the Turkiye-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Ankara on May 8.

The head of the government noted that 310 billion dollars were invested in the economy of Azerbaijan in the last two decades, of which 200 billion were allocated to the non-oil sector.

Ali Asadov stressed that Azerbaijan is ready for mutually beneficial economic cooperation with Turkiye in the future, and this meets the interests of the peoples of the two countries. "I am sure that business communities should use the favorable opportunities of the investment environment of our countries," he stressed.

Recalling that Turkiye's investments in the economy of Azerbaijan exceeded 16 billion dollars, while Azerbaijan's investments in the economy of Turkiye exceeded 20 billion dollars, Ali Asadov added that today more than 4 thousand Turkish companies are actively operating in the Azerbaijani market, which makes up the majority of other foreign companies in our country. does.

The Prime Minister drew attention to the work on expanding the framework of the Agreement on preferential trade through the lines of the economic administrations of the two brotherly countries.

After the 44-day Patriotic War, new opportunities have been opened for the development of cooperation with Turkiye. Large-scale restoration works are being carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, in which Turkish companies are actively participating. Today, more than 20 Turkish companies are implementing about 50 projects with a total value of 4 billion dollars in those areas," said Ali Asadov.

According to the Prime Minister, the infrastructure projects implemented in Azerbaijan increase the interest of investors in our country.

"Recently, the transport sector has been one of the priorities of the Azerbaijani government. Efforts in this direction are already bearing concrete results. The infrastructural capabilities of our country have become an important link of large-scale transport initiatives such as East-West and North-South", said the head of government, who also drew attention to the work on expanding the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.

Ali Asadov also noted the importance of green economy development. "The upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) is a part of the general green agenda of Azerbaijan. We invite Turkish investors to cooperate in the field of renewable energy," said the prime minister.

It should be noted that the Turkish-Azerbaijani Business Forum was given organizational support by the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Exchanges (TOBB) and other institutions.
