President Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolence to President To Lam of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

"Dear Mr. President,

We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Nguyen Phu Chong, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, an outstanding statesman.

Nguyen Fu Chong had great services in strengthening the good traditions of friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam. We appreciate Nguyen Phu Chong's contribution to the development of our interstate relations.

"On behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I offer my deepest condolences to you, the family and relatives of the deceased, all the people of Vietnam for this heavy loss."
