On November 5, the presidential elections will be held in the USA, and there is a strong Armenian diaspora in the country. The Democrats are making efforts to gain their support. Additionally, the factor of Christian solidarity cannot be ignored.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Gudrat Hasanoglu, chairman of the Civil Solidarity Party and a member of parliament, while discussing the excessive pressure the USA is putting on Azerbaijan to sign an urgent peace agreement with Armenia.

The member of parliament noted that there are other reasons for the USA's haste as well:

They see that Armenians who left Karabakh are settling in Armenia and other countries, and over time it will become more difficult to bring them back. The USA is trying to return Armenians to Karabakh under the guarantee of international powers and create opportunities to put constant pressure on Azerbaijan. They also believe that, in the near future, due to changes in the geopolitical situation in the region, Iran will neither block nor be able to block the opening of the Zangezur corridor. They are opposed to the connection of the Turkic world through land routes and the formation of a new power center of Turkic states in the Eurasian space. For this reason, they are also making serious efforts to preserve Iran's integrity and establish a West-oriented monarchy there.”

"The USA is trying to exert serious pressure on Turkiye to open its borders with Armenia. However, Turkiye has repeatedly stated that it will not open its borders with Armenia until relations with Azerbaijan are normalized. They understand the importance of this for strengthening Armenia's economy and gaining broad support for the government. Therefore, they are pressuring us to sign a peace agreement on Armenia's terms, after which communication lines with Armenia would be opened."

In response to the question, "Can Azerbaijan sign a peace agreement in the form of a framework document to reduce tensions?" the parliament member noted that even if Azerbaijan does this, the pressures will not decrease; rather, they may increase:

"They will see that by applying pressure, they can achieve their goals, and subsequently, unilaterally, they will demand the return of Armenians to Karabakh under international guarantees, sidelining the return of refugees from Western Azerbaijan and the issue of the Zangezur corridor. I believe we should not only stand firm on our rightful demands but also insist that Armenia officially apologize to Azerbaijan for the 30 years of occupation and the atrocities committed against our people, including the Khojaly genocide, and declare its intention to pay compensation. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has addressed this issue several times recently. If Armenia and its supporters seek peace, Armenia must amend its constitution, allow unrestricted access to Nakhchivan in accordance with the November 10, 2020, Trilateral Statement, and promptly initiate discussions on the liberation of the enclaves."
