The Baku Initiative Group strongly condemns the illegal detention of renowned activist Kemi Seba by French law enforcement agencies in the fight for the rights of African peoples. This unlawful action is not only a gross violation of personal freedom and human rights but should also be regarded as a pressure directed against the struggle of African peoples against neo-colonialism and their right to sovereignty.

Axar.az reports that this is stated in the Baku Initiative Group's statement regarding the illegal detention of Kemi Seba by French law enforcement agencies.

Kemi Seba is one of the key figures in the struggle against neo-colonialism over many years and in the fight for Africa's independence. His detention not only represents a violation of freedom of expression and political activity but also proves once again that France is attempting to maintain its presence and influence in Africa through illegitimate means. Such actions demonstrate that the French state has not yet moved beyond colonial-era thinking and is still trying to preserve its hegemony.

Kemi Seba is a political prisoner, and his detention is directly related to his political activities.

The Baku Initiative Group calls on the international community, human rights defenders, and international organizations to condemn this unlawful action and urges the French government to release Kemi Seba immediately and unconditionally. The freedom of movement of every individual within the bounds of the law is inviolable, and no state has the right to deprive people of this right through the use of force.

The right of African peoples to determine their future freely and fairly must be ensured, and any interference against their sovereignty must be firmly rejected.

As the Baku Initiative Group, we see this incident as a manifestation of France's long-standing neo-colonial policies in Africa and call for a demonstration of solidarity at the global level to initiate a real decolonization process in the region,” the statement said.
