Four years have passed since the city of Barda was subjected to another rocket attack by the Armenian Armed Forces during the Second Karabakh War.

Axar.az informs that on October 28, 2020, the enemy's armed formations targeted residential areas densely populated by civilians, as well as civil and commercial facilities, including areas containing individual and multi-apartment buildings, with "Smerch" rockets.

As a result of the strikes, which involved the use of internationally banned cluster munitions by Armenia, 20 civilians and one employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were killed, and nearly 70 people were injured.

At the same time, several civilian facilities were destroyed, vehicles were rendered unusable, and residents suffered significant losses.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office under various articles of the Criminal Code, including Article 120.2.1 (intentional murder by a criminal organization), 120.2.4 (intentional murder with particular cruelty or using a generally dangerous method), 120.2.12 (intentional murder with intent based on national, racial, or religious hostility), 100.2 (conducting aggressive warfare), among others, with the preliminary investigation assigned to the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor's Office.

It should be noted that during the Second Karabakh War, the Barda region and city center were subjected to rocket and heavy artillery attacks by the Armenian Armed Forces three times (on October 5, 27, and 28). As a result, 29 people were killed, 112 were injured, and significant damage was inflicted on civilian infrastructure and vehicles in the region.

It is worth recalling that as a result of Armenia's military aggression during the Second Karabakh War, a total of 93 civilians lost their lives, including 12 children and 27 women, and 454 civilians were injured. Additionally, damage was recorded to 12,292 residential and non-residential properties and 288 vehicles, with 1,018 cases of damage to farms identified.
