Azerbaijan declares mourning day after plane crash

Today is mourning day in Azerbaijan.

Axar.az informs that mourning was announced in Azerbaijan on December 26 due to the accident of the Embraer 190 passenger plane, which was carrying out the Baku-Grozny flight on December 25, by the order signed by President Ilham Aliyev.

It should be noted that on December 25, "Embraer 190" flight No. J2-8243 belonging to "Azerbaijan Airlines" airline company, carrying out a Baku-Grozny flight, due to the need for an emergency landing, headed in the direction of Aktau city and crashed near Aktau city.

The causes of the accident are being investigated.

There were 62 passengers and 5 crew members on board the plane, totaling 67 people.

According to preliminary information, it was determined that 32 people survived. Among them, some are in serious condition.

According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, a state commission chaired by Prime Minister Ali Asadov was established to investigate the causes of the plane crash. According to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in connection with the tragic accident, the delegation led by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Minister of Digital Development and Transport is in Kazakhstan.

President Ilham Aliyev, who was on his way to the Russian Federation to participate in the informal summit meeting of the heads of state of the CIS member countries to be held in St. Petersburg, was informed about the plane crash while he was in the Russian airspace, and the head of state instructed him to return immediately. Immediately after the plane landed, President Ilham Aliyev held a meeting at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport regarding the incident.
