As far as I know, this (COP29) was the first COP without the President of the European Commission. However, his participation was already confirmed a few months ago.

Axar.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this in an interview with local TV channels on January 7.

The head of state said that the organizing committee of COP29 contacted the European Commission and informed the other party that there was enough time to visit Baku.

"However, this message was still ignored by the European Commission. Of course, this did not harm the holding of COP29, but the non-participation of the European Commission as a member of the COP raises many questions.
