The President of the Council of the European Union, Antonio Kosta, called the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on January 9.

It was reported that Antonio Košta expressed his condolences to the head of state and the people of Azerbaijan regarding the plane crash and said that the European Union supports the position of our country regarding the comprehensive investigation of this accident.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the condolences.

During the telephone conversation, views were exchanged on transport between Azerbaijan and the EU, especially transport on the Trans-Caspian-Middle Corridor route, the project of creating a green energy corridor connecting the Caspian and Black Sea basins, Azerbaijan's gas export to the EU member states, and cooperation in the field of energy. It was also agreed to continue contact.
