The President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, sent a letter of condolence to the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

"On December 25, 2024, I was very saddened and shocked by the news that 38 people were killed as a result of the accident of the "Azerbaijan Airlines" plane near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan.

On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and my behalf, I offer my deepest condolences to you and the people of Azerbaijan, including the families of the victims.

Your Excellencies, I share the grief of your countrymen over this grave tragedy and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.

I ask you to accept my highest regards."
