Civil society representatives of Azerbaijan addressed a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to deprive Mikhail Gorbachev of the award.

Axar.az informs that the authors of the appeal believe that after the events of January 20, 1990, when the Soviet troops conducted a military operation in Baku by order of Gorbachev, awarding him the Nobel Prize insults the memory of the victims and damages the moral prestige of the prize.

They hope that the committee will decide to restore justice and deprive Gorbachev of the prize, which will strengthen the world community's faith in Nobel values.
