The trial of individuals accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity towards the Azerbaijani people is currently ongoing in Baku, with the defendants facing justice. This was a long-awaited and just demand from the Azerbaijani people. Azerbaijan is ensuring justice through its own efforts.

Axar.az reports Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration, told this journalists.

The Assistant to the President emphasized that the Armenian leadership has mobilized all its resources against this court and is conducting an unnecessary propaganda campaign.

“Their patrons, various lobby groups representing the interests of Armenia in the European Parliament intend to adopt a new draft resolution against Azerbaijan. This is mainly related to the court,” Hikmat Hajiyev noted.

He underlined that the accused must be brought to justice. Calling for release of persons, who committed crimes against humanity and the war crimes and referring to them as hostages is an insult to international relations and humanity. It is unacceptable. Their trial will continue.

“However, if Armenia truly seeks a just peace in the region, it should cooperate closely with the court. Individuals in Armenia who have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity towards the Azerbaijani people should also face trial," Hikmat Hajiyev added.
