Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva visited the Museum of Mountain Jews in the Red settlement on March 18.
Axar.az reports that Deputy Director of the museum Naum Naftaliyev informed Leyla Aliyeva about this cultural center.
It was noted that this is the first museum of Mountain Jews in the world. Exhibits reflecting the history, customs, and culture of Mountain Jews are exhibited here.
The museum, created in the Garchagi synagogue, preserves national costumes brought from different parts of the Caucasus, ritual vessels, manuscripts, books, and antiques dating back to the 19th century, and the heritage and traditions of the mountain community.
This place, which has become another confirmation of Azerbaijan's tolerance in the region, also presents interethnic historical relations and multiculturalism.
