Portugal, Argentina could meet in the 2026 World Cup

Portugal could face Argentina in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

Axar.az reports that this could bring the leaders of the respective national teams, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, face to face.

However, for this to happen, both teams must win their groups and advance to the 1/8 finals.

Argentina will be in Group J with Austria, Algeria, and Jordan, while Portugal will be in Group K with Colombia, Uzbekistan, and the winner of the intercontinental play-off (New Caledonia/Jamaica/Democratic Republic of Congo).

Mexico and South Africa will face each other in the opening match of the competition.
