Azerbaijani boxer wins gold at World Championship

Azerbaijani boxer Subhan Mamedov (48 kilograms) has become a world champion.

Axar.az reports that the 19-year-old athlete of the national team won this title at the World Championship held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

At the end of November, the graduate of the Aghjabadi boxing school, who had won the U-23 European Championship, faced Edmond Khudoyan (Russia) in the final. Mamedov defeated his opponent with a score of 4:3 (30:27, 28:29, 29:28, 30:27, 28:29, judges 1:1) and won the gold medal of the World Championship. With this, he entered history as Azerbaijan’s youngest world champion.

Thus, our national team completed the World Championship, which was attended by 120 countries, with 1 gold and 2 bronze medals. Previously, Alfonso Dominguez (92 kilograms) and Mohammad Abdullayev (+92 kilograms) took 3rd place in the championship.
