It is questionable whether Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller will lead the team in the critical match of Agdam with Qarabag in the Champions League. The management of Frankfurt, which started the second half of the season in the German Bundesliga with a draw (3:3) in an away match with Werder Bremen, did not hide its dissatisfaction.
Axar.az reports that the club's sports director, Markus Krosche, said in a statement after the match that they were hesitant to fully support Toppmöller.
"We are discussing the situation now. We should not see such performances again," he noted.
According to him, the team has been repeating the same mistakes for a long time, conceding easy goals and having difficulty maintaining the game structure when in possession of the ball. The club is considering parting ways with the head coach.
The possibility that Toppmöller will not participate in the away match is considered a great chance for Qarabag. If the Germans come without a head coach, the Azerbaijani club can demonstrate a more courageous game without losing its tactical advantage. This will be an important test on the European stage for Frankfurt, who have won just one of its last seven Bundesliga games.
Toppmöller also acknowledged the seriousness of the situation: “It’s not all about my feelings; the result is important. We’re all unhappy.”
The team’s defensive problems also continue – they’ve conceded nine goals in the first three games of the year.
Now the focus is on the Qarabag match. If the Germans come to Baku without a head coach, this could be a significant factor in increasing the home team’s chances of winning and picking up points. The Frankfurt management and coaching staff are discussing the situation. Decisions will be made in the coming days.
