Azerbaijani chess player secures silver in Bucharest

Azerbaijani chess player Aydin Suleymanli grabbed a silver medal at the Bucharest Grand Prix 2026 in rapid game.

Axar.az informs that after scoring 8.5 points, Suleymanli shared the top spot with Mexico's Jose Martinez Alcantara, finishing second based on tie-break indicators.

Another Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov finished 7th with 8 points.

The tournament brought together 581 chess players from 27 countries.
