US denies visas to several Iran football team officials

Several Iran football team officials denied US visas ahead of World Cup.

Axar.az reports, citing Tasnim, that while the United States has issued visas to all members of Iran’s national football team, several accompanying officials have not received entry visas.

Those affected include team manager Mehdi Mohammadnabi, Football Federation Secretary General Hedayat Mombini, national team executive director Mehdi Kharaati, media officials, an analyst, and representatives of Iran’s Foreign Ministry, security bodies, and the International Committee.

The officials are expected to travel with the team to Mexico, and efforts to secure their visas are continuing.

Iran’s national team is due to depart Antalya for Tijuana on Saturday to begin its World Cup preparations. The team will face New Zealand on June 15, Belgium on June 21, and Egypt on June 26.
