Mexico fans try to disrupt England ahead of World Cup clash

Mexico supporters gathered outside England's team hotel overnight in an attempt to disrupt the squad ahead of the teams' FIFA World Cup Round of 16 showdown.

Axar.az reports, citing the Daily Mail, that fans used drums, car horns, loud music and chants outside the hotel, while a large police operation kept them hundreds of meters away from the building.

Authorities later moved the crowd farther from the hotel entrance.

An England security official said the incident had little to no impact on the players and praised Mexican authorities for maintaining security.

“They're used to playing for Real Madrid, Barcelona and the biggest Premier League clubs. This isn't their first experience of something like this,” the official said.

England and Mexico are set to meet in the World Cup Round of 16 on July 6. The match will kick off at 4:00 a.m. Baku time.
