Zidane set to become France head coach

Legendary French footballer Zinedine Zidane is set to become the next head coach of the France national team.

Axar.az reports, citing Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, that Zidane will take over the role after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Current France coach Didier Deschamps has already announced that he will step down following the tournament. Deschamps, who has led the national team since 2012, guided France to the 2018 FIFA World Cup title, the 2022 World Cup final, and the UEFA Euro 2016 final.

Zidane managed Real Madrid in two spells, from 2016 to 2018 and 2019 to 2021. During his tenure, the Spanish club won three UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga championships, two Spanish Super Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and two FIFA Club World Cups.

France were eliminated from the World Cup on Monday after losing 2-0 to Spain in the semifinals.
