Qarabag could strengthen its squad with a well-known footballer as the club continues its transfer campaign.
Axar.az reports, citing Qaynarinfo, that the Azerbaijani champions are interested in former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita. According to the report, preliminary talks between the parties have already begun.
The report claims that Qarabag's management is in contact not only with the 31-year-old midfielder but also with his current club, Hungary's Ferencvaros.
The Guinea international has played for Ferencvaros since the beginning of this year, making 19 appearances for the Budapest-based club so far.
During his career, Keita has played for Guinea's Horoya, France's Istres, Austria's Red Bull Salzburg, Germany's RB Leipzig and Werder Bremen, England's Liverpool, and Hungary's Ferencvaros. Salzburg signed him for €29.75 million in 2016 before selling him to Liverpool for €60 million two years later.
With Liverpool, Keita won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the FA Community Shield. He also won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup in the 2018/19 season, and reached the Champions League final again in the 2021/22 campaign.
Keita has earned 58 caps for Guinea, scoring 12 goals.
