Ayxan Javadov (60kg) made a confident start to the tournament. The world champion defeated France’s Magomed Varaev 9–0 by technical superiority to advance to the quarterfinals. He then beat Brazil’s Pedro Henrique de Souza Rodrigues 6–2 to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals, Javadov defeated Iran’s Amirali Heydari 4–3 to reach the U-20 World Championships final for the second consecutive time. Javadov will face Uzbekistan’s Dostonbek Oripov in tomorrow’s final.

Elmin Aliyev (82kg) won his first two bouts by technical superiority, defeating Georgia’s Luka Pipia and Japan’s Rondo Kodama 8–0. In the quarterfinals, Aliyev eliminated Uzbekistan’s Bekmurod Rustamov based on the first-point tiebreaker after a 1–1 score. However, he lost 4–7 to Belarusian Kirill Valevski one step short of the final. Elmin will compete for a bronze medal tomorrow against the winner of the bout between Mohamed Shaban of Egypt, Ismail Barakat of Turkiye and Severi Maeenpaeae of Finland.

Esra Mammadli (53kg) lost 1–7 to Kazakhstan’s Dinara Dauylkyzy in the qualification round.

Zahra Karimzada (72kg), who entered the competition in the quarterfinals, defeated Turkiye’s Ilayda Cin by fall but was unable to overcome India’s Tanu Sharma, losing 0–11. In the bronze-medal bout, Zahra will face the winner of the match between Russia’s Liliana Kazmina and Hungary’s Petra Mueller.
