Russian attack damages Odesa football club’s training base

Overnight on August 22, Russian forces again targeted Odesa’s sports infrastructure, striking FC Chornomorets’ training base in Sauvignon.

Axar.az informs, citing Ukrainian media, that the attack caused significant damage to the Lustdorf sports and recreation complex.

Fortunately, no one inside the buildings was injured.

A potentially deadly outcome was avoided because almost the entire first team, coaching staff and club staff were traveling by train to an away Ukrainian Cup match at the time of the attack. Club representatives and specialists are now documenting the damage and beginning cleanup and repair work to assess the full extent of the losses.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Chornomorets’ training base has come under attack. The facility was also hit in February 2025. In addition, the club’s stadium was targeted in a missile attack recently.
