Neftchi defeated Gabala 3-0 away from home in the sixth round of the Misli Premier League.

Axar.az reports that Breno Almeida opened the scoring in the 25th minute, while Adeleke Akinyemi doubled Neftchi’s lead in the 86th minute. Lyubomir Tupta completed the scoring in the second minute of stoppage time.

The match marked Neftchi’s 1,000th game in the top flight of Azerbaijani football. The Baku club became the first Azerbaijani team to reach the milestone in the national championship.

Under head coach Yuriy Vernydub, Neftchi moved to the top of the standings with 15 points. Gabala remain eighth with four points.

The round will conclude on September 20.
