With support from Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with the Diaspora, the Odlar Yurdu Boxing Club, based in Magdeburg, Germany, took part in a professional boxing event in Aschersleben.
Axar.az reports that club boxer Kenan Huseynaliyev faced Argentina’s Leonardo Baez at the Ballhaus sports complex in Aschersleben.
Huseynaliyev controlled the fight throughout all six rounds and knocked Baez down in the final round to secure a convincing victory. The win marked his 13th victory in 14 professional bouts.
Azerbaijanis who travelled from various German cities turned out to support Huseynaliyev, cheering enthusiastically as he celebrated his victory.
Club director and world boxing champion Azad Azizov said his protégé had successfully overcome another challenge. He dedicated the victory to the Azerbaijani people and thanked fellow Azerbaijanis for their active and continued support.
It should be noted that founded in Germany in 2013, the Odlar Yurdu Boxing Club now has around 100 members. Since its establishment, its athletes have competed in more than 50 international, professional and amateur boxing tournaments. The club is also a member of the Boxing Association of Saxony-Anhalt, the German state where it is based.
