England international and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has won the Ballon d’Or, awarded by French magazine France Football to the world’s best footballer for the 2025/26 season.

Axar.az reports that the 70th anniversary awards ceremony was held at the London Palladium theatre.

Kane became the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001, and the fifth in history, to win the prestigious award. Previous English winners include Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Owen.

It should be noted that during the 2025/26 season, Kane won the German Super Cup, German Cup and Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich. He also helped England secure bronze at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Between August 2025 and July 2026, the striker scored 73 goals in 65 appearances for Bayern and the England national team.

Kane’s fellow nominees included Lamine Yamal, who won the Best Young Player award for the third consecutive year, and Kylian Mbappe.
