Azerbaijani judoka Ibrahim Talibov captured the country's first gold medal at the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.

Axar.az reports that competing in the 55kg weight category, Talibov defeated his Croatian rival Jona Zvorc in the final bout to secure Azerbaijan’s first gold medal at Dakar 2026.

Azerbaijan is represented by 13 athletes across 8 sports disciplines at the Olympic event.

It should be recalled that our judoka, who entered the competition at the quarter-final stage, had eliminated Ibrahim Moussa of the Central African Republic and Muratz Hebah of Saudi Arabia in his first two bouts.
