Portugal to hold farewell ceremony for Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has announced plans to pay tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo following his retirement from international football after a 23-year career with the national team.

Axar.az reports, citing Sky Sports, that the federation said a fitting tribute would be organised for the 41-year-old forward, whose final appearance for Portugal was a 1-0 victory over Wales.

Ronaldo ended his international career with a record 234 appearances and 146 goals, helping Portugal win Euro 2016 and two UEFA Nations League titles in 2019 and 2025.

In a statement, the FPF praised Ronaldo as an inspiring leader and a symbol of the national team's spirit, thanking him for his extraordinary contribution to Portuguese football.

Ronaldo announced his retirement on Thursday, saying he was leaving the national team with pride and gratitude after giving everything for his country.
