Zlatan Ibrahimovic has vowed to bring even more happiness to the Manchester United supporters after winning the club’s Player of the Month award for February.
The Swedish superstar scored seven goals in the second month of 2017, beginning with a fine finish in the 3-0 win at Leicester City. A hat-trick against Saint-Etienne and an important winner at Blackburn Rovers followed, before he struck twice against Southampton to clinch the EFL Cup last weekend.
Ibrahimovic impressively earned 79 per cent of over 109,000 combined votes cast via @ManUtd on Twitter and Chinese social media platform Sina Weibo, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan earning 15 per cent and Paul Pogba six per cent.
Zlatan was presented with his award at the Aon Training Complex on Friday and the 35-year-old delivered this message of gratitude. “I want to say thank you to all the fans who have been voting for me to win Player of the Month,” he said. “Hopefully I can continue and keep making you happy, and keep doing good. Thank you very much and keep voting for me… because that is the right thing to do!”
This season's previous Player of the Month winners are Antonio Valencia (January), Ibrahimovic (December), Valencia (November), Juan Mata (October), Marcus Rashford (September) and Eric Bailly (August). Congratulations to Zlatan and thanks to everyone who voted.
