Ronaldo breaks 46 years old record

Just one week after becoming the first man to 500 Barcelona goals Lionel Messi had to take a back seat to Cristiano Ronaldo in record breaking as the Real Madrid striker broke another ridiculous record.

Axar.az reports citing The Sport Bible.

The joke goes that Ronaldo and Messi can't go a week without breaking yet another record and the biggest joke is that it's pretty much spot on.

Just over 10 days ago Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to become the first man to 100 Champions League goals as Real knocked Bayern Munich out of the Champions League.

A couple of days later and Messi had stolen all the headlines with his 499th and 500th goals as Barca scored a late winning goal in El Clasico to open the title race back up.

If Ronaldo was annoyed at that then he only used it as motivation to break yet another impressive record and one that had stood for nearly half a century.

The Ballon d'Or holder scored an 86th minute winner against Valencia yesterday to keep alive Los Blancos title hopes.

It was incredibly the former Manchester United winger's 367th goal in Europe's top six leagues, meaning he beat Jimmy Greaves record of 366 strikes, made 46 years ago:

Amazingly Ronaldo managed to break the record with 45 games to spare, which is more than a season of games in La Liga, or about 40 goals in CR7 terms!

Ronaldo's almost unbelievable record of goals to game ratio is punctuated by the fact that he is now 73 goals clear of Raul's Real Madrid record despite playing a mammoth 353 games less!!

The 32 year old could have been even further ahead but he actually had a penalty saved earlier in the match, that nearly cost his team two points.

As the Portuguese superstar gets older it's likely he'll play further forward and possibly score at an even better rate, if that's possible!
