Azerbaijan U-23 wrestling team will vie for medals

The Azerbaijan U-23 wrestling team will vie for medals at the European Championships due in Ruse, Bulgaria from March 29 to April 3.

The Greco-Roman wrestlers will compete first.

In the Greco-Roman event, Azerbaijan`s squad includes coaches Akif Aliyev, Eyyub Azmude and Fuad Aliyev, wrestlers Murad Mammadov (59 kg), Elman Mukhtarov (66 kg), Ruhin Mikayilov (71 kg), Shamistan Guluzade (75 kg), Elton Vazirzade (80 kg), Islam Abbasov (85 kg), Orkhan Nuriyev (98 kg) and Oyan Nazariani (130 kg).

In female wrestling competitions under supervision of the senior coach Konstantin Konorev and coach Aslan Agayev the country will be represented by 6 sportsmen: Anna Pavliv (48 kg), Leyla Gurbanova (53 kg), Almaz Ismayilova (55 kg), Alyona Kolesnik (58 kg), Tatyana Omelchenko (60 kg) and Elis Manolova (69 kg).

In the last two days of the championship, freestyle wrestlers will join the competition. Under the supervision of the coach Rovshan Hajiyev the country’s sport honor will be defended by Mirjalal Hasanzade (57 kg), Zalimkhan Veliyev (61 kg), Teymur Mammadov (65 kg), Hajimurad Omarov (70 kg), Murad Suleymanov (74 kg), Hajimurad Magomedsaidov (86 kg), Nurmagomed Hajiyev (97 kg) and Said Hamidov (125 kg).

In referees’ board the country will be represented by international category referee Natig Hajiyev.
