Azerbaijani grandmaster claims first victory

Azerbaijani grandmaster Rauf Mammadov has defeated his rival in the first round of the 10th Tashkent Open–Memorial of Georgy Agzamov.

Mammadov will next face Kazakh Ayan Akhmetov.

The tournament brings together 116 chess players from 10 countries.

The tournament is a 9-round Swiss with the time control 90 min + 30 sec increment from move one. The total prize fund is $20,000.

Top regular prizes are 4 000 / 3 000 / 2 000 / 1 500 / 1 000 USD. There are also special prizes for women, juniors under 20, girls under 20 and veterans.
