Mourinho handed one-year prison sentence

Jose Mourinho has been sentenced to one year in prison and been issued with a fine of around 2.2 million euros for evading payment of 3.3 million, according to Marca.

Axar.az reports Goal sports news agency.

As is the custom in Spain, the Portuguese coach won't serve time in prison because it is a financial crime with a punishment of under two years.

Mourinho acknowledged the facts before the court under Section 30 of the Provincial Court of Madrid in a trial that lasted only a few minutes.

Guilty of two tax crimes, defrauding 3.3 million euros for his image rights during his time as coach of Real Madrid, Mourinho was handed a six-month sentence for each.

The fine is 60 percent of the sum defrauded - 966,922.56 euros in 2011 and 1,015,879.83 in 2012.
