Azerbaijan`s Mammadov wins Judo Grand Prix Almaty

Azerbaijan`s Elkhan Mammadov has become the winner of the International Judo Federation's Grand Prix stage in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Mammadov secured the title thanks to a victory over Brazilian Rafael Buzacarini in the men`s 100kg weight class.

Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) grabbed silver for Azerbaijan, while Mammadali Mehdiyev (90kg) claimed a bronze medal.

Azerbaijan`s squad included 14 judo fighters.

Nearly 420 fighters from more than 80 countries challenged the rating points at the tournament needed to book a spot in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio.
