Bayern Munich donates $275,000 to COVID-19

German football club Bayern Munich on Wednesday donated nearly $275,000 to a charity platform fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Axar.az reports citing foreign media.

"On Wednesday, FC Bayern handed over a donation of €250,000 to WeKickCorona, which was created by players Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka," the German football powerhouse said on its website.

It stated that Bayern Munich sold face masks available on the club’s online store to support the WeKickCorona platform.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge thanked midfielders Kimmich and Goretzka for their efforts.

The Bayern Munich pair established the WeKickCorona to bring in at least €4.4 million ($4.8 million) for charity, the fundraiser said on website.

As many as 3,500 donors contributed to this campaign, it added.
