Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has set a new record for the number of La Liga matches at the club.

Axar.az reports that the player played in the match with Cadiz. This was the striker's 506th meeting. Messi is ahead of Xavi. He took part in the last 505 matches.

Messi made his debut in the Spanish league in October 2004 against Union Espanola.
