The Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix scheduled for June 13 may be canceled or postponed.
Axar.az reports that he difficult situation with the coronavirus in Turkey has put Formula 1 management in a difficult position.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the British government has put Turkey in the "red zone" due to the coronavirus. Visitors to the UK must remain in quarantine for 10 days after returning from the "red zone" countries, which is not included in the plans of British Formula 1 officials. The new law does not provide for discounts for athletes.
The base of 7 Formula 1 teams is in the UK. According to the German press, the management of Formula 1 is currently considering several options. Even the relocation of the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan and Turkey is being discussed. If the Turkish Grand Prix is canceled altogether, the race can be held instead at the Mucella racetrack in Italy. Even the name of the German Hockeheim racetrack sounds like one of the options.
The Turkish Grand Prix has been rescheduled for this season in Canada.
The Formula 1 management is expected to make a decision on the issue in the near future.
