Azerbaijani boxer one step closer to Olympic berth

Azerbaijani boxer Teymur Mammadov (81kg) has defeated Georgian Lago Kiziriya in the 1/16 round of the AIBA World Olympic Qualification Event in Baku.

The World Olympic Qualification Event began on Thursday afternoon in Baku, with the preliminary rounds already throwing up some surprise results and blistering action in Baku as 375 boxers from 92 countries pursue the 39 Rio 2016 quota places available.
