Azerbaijani chess players shine

Azerbaijani players are successfully competing in the 11th Poti International Chess Festival in Georgia.

Azerbaijani grandmaster Zaur Mammadov is a half point behind the leader of the “A” tournament topped by Georgian and Russian players with 5 points after 6 rounds.

The “A” tournament brings together 66 chess players, as well as 9 grandmasters.

Araz Babayev, Zahid Allahverdiyev, Novruz Ahmadov (all 4,5 points), Farid Mustafayev, Mustafa Mammadov, Ferhad Ferhadli, Ibrahim Karimov, Nijat Mansurov (all 4 points) are also showing best results in different age categories.

The winner of the festival will be learned on July 20.
