Another Greco-Roman wrestler from Azerbaijan held his first match at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Axar.az reports that Murad Mammadov, fighting in the 60 kg category, challenged Rayber Jose Rodriguez Orozco from Venezuela in the 1/8 finals.

Although M. Mammadov lost with the score of 5:6, if his opponent reaches the finals, he will have a chance to participate in the consolation matches.

Earlier, Sabah Shariati (130 kilograms) made it to the 1/4 finals.

It should be noted that currently Azerbaijan has three medals. Judokas Hidayat Heydarov (73 kilograms) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kilograms) became Olympic champions, while boxer Alfonso Dominguez secured at least the silver prize by qualifying for the final.
