Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Giorgi Meshvildishvili has started competing in the Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France.

Axar.az reports that the athlete in the 125 kg weight category faced the Egyptian Diaeldin Abdelmottaleb in the 1/8 final stage.

Meshvildishvili defeated its opponent (4:0) and qualified for the 1/4 finals.

The athlete in the 125 kg weight category faced Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur (Mongolia) in the 1/4 final stage.

Meshvildishvili defeated his opponent (12:2) and advanced to the semi-finals. He will meet Geno Petriashvili (Georgia) on the way to the final.

Note that Paris-2024 will end on August 11.
