An explosion at a Berks County candy factory kills two people and sends several others to the hospital.

Axar.az reports this was the scene at the RM Palmer Company on South Second Avenue in West Reading Friday.

West Reading Mayor Samantha Kaag described what she saw at RM Palmer Company, a chocolate factory in business since 1948.

"It's pretty leveled," Kaag said. "Pretty scary."

CBS News Philadelphia was told about 5 p.m. Friday there was at least one explosion followed by a massive fire that sent thick smoke rising from the building.

Despite the destruction witnessed Friday, officials say neighbors don't have to worry about their own well-being.
