A 5.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in the north of Kyrgyzstan, on the border with Kazakhstan.
Axar.az informs that this was reported by the country's Institute of Seismology.
According to the institute, the epicentre of the earthquake was 35 kilometres north of Cholpon-Ata and 190 kilometres from Bishkek in the Issyk-Kul region, on the border with Kazakhstan, 37 km south of Almaty.
The intensity of earthquakes in the settlements closest to the epicentre was 5 points in the city of Almaty, 4 points in Cholpon-Ata, and 3.5 points each in Bishkek and Karakol.
In Almaty, people were alarmed and poured into the streets.
