A swear-in ceremony for Georgia's new president, Mikheil Kavelashvili, was held in the Georgian parliament.

Mikheil Kavelashvili, who was elected as president by the electoral college in Parliament, took an oath on the Bible and the Constitution:
"I, the President of Georgia, swear before God and the people that I will defend the Constitution of Georgia, the country's independence, integrity, and indivisibility, I will faithfully fulfill the duties of the president, and I will care for the security and welfare of my country's citizens, the revival and strength of my people and my Homeland," Kavelashvili said.
It is reported that Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of the Georgian Dream Party, also attended the inaugural ceremony.
