President Joe Biden officially announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, alongside Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Axar.az, citing the Jerusalem Post, reports that the deal, endorsed globally and supported by the UN Security Council, includes a three-phase structure.
Phase one involves a six-week ceasefire, Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza’s populated areas, the release of hostages, and the return of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Humanitarian aid will also begin during this phase.
Families of American hostages, who have endured over 15 months of waiting, expressed gratitude toward Biden and President-elect Trump for the collaboration leading to the agreement. They emphasized the importance of full implementation of the deal and pledged to continue advocating for the return of all hostages.
The Hostage Families Forum echoed similar sentiments, highlighting both relief and anxiety over the potential challenges in executing the agreement.
The deal marks significant progress but leaves lingering concerns about ensuring the release and rehabilitation of all hostages.
