Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian spoke in Azerbaijani during discussions with local officials and experts regarding the drying up of Lake Urmia.
Axar.az reports that information about this was published in Iranian media.
According to the information, President Pezeshkian previously drew attention by conducting official correspondence with local administrators in various regions of South Azerbaijan in his native language, Azerbaijani.
This step was positively received by both the population of South Azerbaijan and circles fighting for language rights and is considered an indicator of the value given to the Azerbaijani language at the level of the country's leadership.
It should be noted that the drying up of Lake Urmia has caused serious ecological and social problems in the region in recent years. Currently, various projects are being discussed to save the lake.
