Japan’s PM and Trump discuss strengthening alliance

Japan's new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump.

"We agreed to strengthen the Japan-US alliance and raise it to an even higher level," Takaichi told reporters.

The Prime Minister also spoke about Japan's importance for the US in implementing the Indo-Pacific strategy and "in the fight against China."

It should be noted that on October 26, the largest ASEAN summit in history will be held in the Malaysian capital. On October 26, along with the leaders of the organization's member states, US President Donald Trump, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and officials from other countries will participate. Immediately after the ASEAN summit, Takaichi and Trump will return to Japan, and the US President will make an official visit that will last until October 29.
