What we know about the Bondi Hanukkah attack

Two gunmen carried out a deadly attack on a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday evening, killing at least 15 people in what authorities have declared an antisemitic terrorist attack.

Axar.az, citing Axios, reports that the shooting occurred during a “Chanukah by the Sea” event attended by about 1,000 people. Police killed one suspect, a 50-year-old man, while the second, his 24-year-old son, remains in critical condition.

Victims ranged in age from 10 to 87, including a Holocaust survivor and a rabbi who helped organize the event.

A bystander who tackled and disarmed one of the attackers has been hailed as a hero.

Authorities also found improvised explosive devices at the scene.

Australian leaders condemned the attack, pledged solidarity with the Jewish community, and announced plans to tighten gun laws amid global concern over rising antisemitism.
